1920: Born in Jiangsu Province, China
1935: Enrolled in the National College of Arts, Hangzhou, China
1941: Graduated from National College of Arts
Appointed Assistant Tutor at the National College of Arts
1949: Left Nanjing, China for Taipei, Taiwan
1950: Appointed professor in the Department of Architecture at the Taipei School of Industry, Taipei, Taiwan
1951: Taught in the Fine Arts Department at the National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan
1955: Arrived in Paris
Attended drawing classes at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière
1958: First solo exhibition at the Haut Pavé Gallery in Paris, France
1969: Participated in the Tenth Biennale in Sao Paulo, Brazil
1980: Became a citizen of France
1983: Acted as an external examiner for the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong
1999: Formally inducted into l’Institut de France, Académie des Beaux-Arts, Paris, France
