Timeline

1947 - 1949: After being accepted at the Slade School of Art, he entered the army to do two years of National Service, the last nineteen months were spent in Egypt
1949 - 1953: Studied at the Slade School of Art where he was taught by William Coldstream
1963 - 1966: Taught at the Slade School of Fine Art
1928: Born in Norwich
1946: Took lessons on Saturdays in oil painting at Norwich Art School
1952: Second prize in the Slade Summer Competition
1953: Awarded the Scholarship for painting to the British School, Rome
1959: Taught at Norwich School of Art
1960: Taught at Chelsea School of Art London
1988: Served as a Trustee of the National Gallery
1989: Made a Fellow of University College, London
July 19, 1995: Died
