Timeline

Laura Palestrini began her activity as decorator and restorer in 1987 in Milan, founding with other two artists Studio Mimesis. They worked together until 1997, taking part in many different art exhibitions in Italy. She also taught painting, trompe l’oeil and decoration to support the start-up of new businesses created by women in the arts. Project supported by EU. From 1997 to now, Laura’s creations focused mainly on the study of abstract shapes and textural paintings, they are made with acrylic colors, enamels, inks, crystals and sands. Her painting its influenced by different arts like photography and dance: from the Mapplethorpe’s study of the bodies to Pina Bausch’s choreographies. The ongoing attempt is to fix emotions and feelings on the canvas, to capture the fragment of space and light, energy and pain, that comes from all the arts, bodies and glances, but only with painting can be fixed, turn into color and brought to life.
