1927: Born in Rome, Italy
1945 - 1951: Studied architecture at the Università degli Studi, Rome, Italy
1947 - 1948: Cofounded Forma 1, the first group of Italian abstract artists
Awarded a scholarship by the French government to the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France
1950: Cofounded the influential cooperative gallery Age d’Or in Rome and Florence, Italy
1953: Traveled to the United States where he met Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Clement Greenberg
1955: Published the first book on international Modern art to appear in Italy, La Fantasia Dell-Arte Nella Vita Moderna
1960 - 1969: Taught at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, University of Pennsylvania, PA
1963: Cofounded the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania, PA
1968: Invited for a residency at the Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst in Berlin, Germany
1970: Moved to Prima Porta, near Rome, Italy
1971: Visited Greece, Africa and the Middle East
1985 - 1986: Awarded a prize of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, Roma, Italy
2005: Died in Perugia, Italy
