Returned to Chicago, IL; Painted views of the city and its working class

Guggenheim Fellowship
Commissioned by the Works Progress Administration to paint three monumental size murals for various Illinois Post Offices
1942 - 1945
Artistic war correspondent in the European Theater for Life Magazine and also worked for the Army Corps of Engineers
1948 - 1973
Replaced John Steuart Curry as the second Artist-in-Residence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI

Bohrod devoted himself exclusively to still life painting, often using a method known as ‘trompe l’oeil’

Died on April 3, 1992, at the age of 84, in Madison, WI
