Mr. Kokoryn's paintings have been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions in Poland and in The Netherlands and Slovakia. His work is marked by an intense love of color. In the tradition of great artists since the Renaissance, Kokoryn finds noteworthy subject matter in everyday things dancing, music, the gathering of friends at a café or around a campfire. He is a bohemian at heart. Although a successful artist, he would prefer a beer in a pub with friends to anything that smacks of elegance or the normal trappings of success. "Perhaps it is because I am a nomad, like my Tartar ancestors," he explains. He lives his life "real," and he paints it that way. His paintings tell the tales of life lived day-to-day. They are the stories told at family gatherings or the remembrances exchanged between friends. For Kokoryn, painting is "like singing a ballad; something natural that flows from inside. It is building a character and all the circumstances in which it exists. Not just physical circumstances like a room . . . or a harbor [but] also things like mood." In the most mundane moments, there is always something for Kokoryn to "sing" about.
