Rosenbaum Contemporary will premier exclusively the latest work of European artist Andres Ginestet the evening of March 4, 2010. This latest work is an ambitious body of work of figural studies. Working in the most technologically advanced areas of high–resolution imaging, Ginestet has been able to transcend the flat surface of photography with his composite photo images, referred to by the artist as “Sculptural Photography.” The romantic and lyrical images resonate with the warmth and movement of the human form. A montage of shifting poses, using highly controlled exposures, creates a unique, seemingly three-dimensional sense of form. Adding to this soft intimacy is the background patina of stucco walls and garden settings with mysterious doors and courtyards that beckon the viewer inward. Subtle phantasms of facial sculpture (carved by the artist) emerge through shifting light from the aging stucco walls that speak of another time and place. These are contemplative pieces that encourage and welcome the viewer to immerse themselves in voluptuous imagery and to revel in its richness.
