Acclaimed Dutch sculptor Hanneke Beaumont’s figures resonate with deep emotional tension and a poignant awareness of the self. The pensive, introverted gazes of the gender-neutral figures invite the viewer to explore their own personal depths of human emotion. While Beaumont’s sculptures are cast in bronze and iron, she embraces the formative medium of terra cotta, allowing the clay to speak for itself. The compelling power of the sculpture celebrates the rough, unrefined feeling of the terra cotta, while still the capturing the subtle facial expressions and thoughtful postures held in a fleeting moment of solitude. Powerful, yet understated, rough, yet refined, these sculptures truly reflect on the enigma of the human condition.

This comprehensive exhibition contains both bronze and cast iron pieces ranging in size from under twelve inches to large monumental outdoor pieces over ten feet in height.
