Sean Kelly is delighted to present a dynamic evolving presentation on our booth, R2, at Art Basel 49. Three Generations will feature three different installations, each lasting two days. Each presentation will feature new work of artists linked by the era in which they were born: 1940 -1959, 1960 -1979, and after 1980.

Three Generations unfolds as a series of three distinct installations. The first installation, Tuesday, June 12th and Wednesday, June 13th, includes pieces by the gallery’s most senior artists, some of whom have worked with the gallery since its inception in 1991, including Marina Abramović, Candida Höfer, Rebecca Horn, Tehching Hsieh, Joseph Kosuth, Anthony McCall and Julião Sarmento.

The second presentation, Thursday, June 14th and Friday, June 15th, focuses on mid-career artists and includes David Claerbout, Jose Dávila, Laurent Grasso, Ilse D’Hollander, Callum Innes, Idris Khan, Peter Liversidge, Mariko Mori, Shahzia Sikander, Frank Thiel, Janaina Tschäpe, James White and Kehinde Wiley.

The third installation, Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th, highlights the gallery’s younger artists, who were born since 1980, and includes Julian Charrière, Hugo McCloud, Landon Metz, Sam Moyer and Sun Xun.

The tripartite structure of this year’s presentation proposes new contexts for discovering afresh, or re-discovering the varied, yet often conceptually linked production of artists who are associated generationally.
