Akim Monet
in partnership with the Musée Rodin Paris,
Ralph Jentsch, Managing Director of the George Grosz Estate
& private lenders

The 14 th exhibition at Akim Monet Side by Side Gallery is an exploration of the incredible human capacity - through the sheer force of imagination - to overcome the loss of personal freedom, the horrors of war, the confines of imprisonment –physical or psychological, and the fear of death. The w orks on exhibition, very different in medium, period, and style , illustrate how each art ist has addressed the dark questions of evil, sin, torture, and damnation, as well as solitude and anguish.

A mind not to be chang’d by Place or Time.
The mind is its own place, and in itself
Can make a Heav’n of hell, a Hell of Heav’n.

John Milton, Paradise Lost, Book I, 1667
