FIBER 2020 is the second in a series of exhibitions to focus on a particular material and consider it in the broadest terms. National in scope, the exhibition is curated by Beth C. McLaughlin, Chief Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts. FIBER 2020 showcases the best of contemporary fiber art and reflects a breadth of functional and non-functional works that use natural fiber and/ or high-tech materials in traditional or innovative ways. FIBER 2020 runs from Apr. 4 through July 8. Curator Beth C. McLaughlin has held leadership and curatorial roles in the arts for over 25 years at institutions across the U.S., including Fuller Craft Museum where she is Chief Curator of Exhibitions and Collections, Oakland Museum of California, and DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. She has curated over 45 exhibitions, has served as a juror for regional and national cultural organizations, and has been widely published in books and periodicals. McLaughlin is passionate about expanding awareness of the craft field, promoting the makers, and exploring the transformative powers of handmade objects.

Visitors to FIBER 2020 will see Roz Chast’s embroidered cartoons; work by Helena Hernmarck, known internationally for her monumental tapestries; Norma Minkowitz’s interlaced designs that explore structure and surface at the same time; Cheri Dunnigan’s silver and pearl sculpture; Grand Prize, Ruben Marroquin’s “View from Norwalk” embroidered over linen, and many other unexpected discoveries in which forms and ideas transcend the traditional uses of the materials.   Exhibiting Artists Aaron, Christine – Larchmont, NY
