Venice, Las Vegas | Andrea Robbins and Max Becher

536 West 22nd Street New York, NY, USA Thursday, February 17, 2011–Thursday, March 31, 2011

On February 17, 2011 Sonnabend Gallery will open “Venice, Las Vegas”, an exhibition of new works by Andrea Robbins and Max Becher.

The work of Robbins and Becher examines visual evidence of the “transportation” of cultural identities and signifiers. Their past series have included such subjects as Lutheran villages built in the Namibian desert, Germans who holiday dressed as American Indians, and a replica of Wall Street in Cuba. As a body of work, their images provide a portrait of the larger forces, such as colonialism or globalization, which have caused these cultural shifts.

This exhibition will continue through March.
