Shannon Finley (*1974 in Canada) has been represented by our gallery since 2012. His current presentation is based on works that were exhibited with significant press and audience response at the Mies van der Rohe House in Berlin in the first half of 2023. These works are complemented by recent pieces and, for the first time, works on paper.   

In his traditional painterly visual language, Finley seeks an encounter with the digital world. For the creation of his pieces, Finley doesn't use brushes but rather employs spatulas, adhesive tapes, and stencils. From intuition arises a captivating interplay of geometric details, interlocking forms, overlapping layers, and a tangle of inseparable fragments. The colors compete in vibrant brilliance, even radiating from deep black. Both in concept and execution of his works, Shannon Finley is uniquely positioned as one of the leading representatives of contemporary painting.
