TAG Fine Arts is proud to present Adam Bridgland’s first solo show in London as part of 2009 Arts Project Space. Now I Find Poetry In The Strangest Places by Adam Bridgland marks the occasion of the gallery’s third project space in successive years. Following the artist’s first solo show in May 2008 at the Babylon Gallery, Cambridgeshire, Adam has continued to develop his artistic language and will be exhibiting an exciting portfolio of new work. The exhibition will include previously unseen screen prints and embroidered patches, along with a site-specific installation. In edition, TAG has commissioned Adam to produce a special enamel plaque in collaboration with the company responsible for the London Underground signage.
Described as ‘your favourite leisure time artist’, Adam embraces the everyday object finding inspiration from the colouring book image, travel guidebooks, and scout camping paraphernalia. Kitsch and humorous, yet equally poignant, Adam’s work rejoices in the mundane and is an investigation of the notion that holiday-making is just another ordinary everyday activity and that the holiday is essentially a fantasy that rarely lives up to our expectations.
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2004, Adam has lived and worked as an artist in London. He has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and America. The V&A, UBS, BBC and Debbie Harry are just some of the collectors of Adam’s work.
