As early as 2004, we initiated and hosted regularly at Tajan the program “The Artist and his Supporters”. This program of unique events brought together many of those creating, defending and promoting innovative art and design: artists, designers, curators, collectors, gallerists and journalists. This early program has now evolved and greatly developed leading to the creation of a separate entity and brand, Tajan ArtStudio. Through artist focused and thematic exhibitions presented several times a year, Tajan ArtStudio has now become a creative trendsetter. It is now a rich source to discover in Paris local and international new, emerging talent and rediscover overlooked or forgotten artistic movements and individual artists.
Our goal is to share with the broadest public art, culture and our passion for innovation and creativity. In assuming this “trendsetter” role, we had the honor to present the contemporary creations of young artists and designers such as Richard Aldrich, Marc Desgrandchamps, Adrian Ghenie, Eva Nielsen, Frank Tjepkema, Joseph Walsh, Marcel Wanders, Matthias Weischer… In parallel we focused on mature Western and Eastern European artists such as Geta Bratescu, Ion and Octav Grigorescu, Karl Horst Hoedicke, and François Rouan, as well as major artists active in San Francisco and the Bay Area from 1960 to 1990 such as Robert Arneson, Joan Brown, Bruce Conner, Peter Saul, Wayne Thiebaud...
Continuing our tradition of blending art and design, we are proud to begin our fall season 2018 with “Forever Pop” featuring Evelyne Axell, a major Belgian artist who was active in 60’s and Hubert Le Gall, a French designer creating today.
During her very short life, Evelyne Axell, counselled by her family’s friend René Magritte, succeeded in establishing a strong imprint within the context of the overall revolutionary work created internationally in the 60’s. Her work highlights the emancipation of female sexuality and fully integrates into painting the possibilities offered by new materials such as plastic. Axell’s works exude a strong sense of female confidence unknown before and a refreshing sexual liberation and hedonism. These works are just as fresh and contemporary now, as when they were created and succeeded in captivating the interest of today’s French pop designer Hubert Le Gall. They inspired him to select for this exhibition a group of remarkable works of his own, which generate an exciting dialog with works created half a century earlier by a pop, pioneering female artist. In today’s overcrowded design field, Le Gall’s works stand out clearly and strongly through their sense of humor, elegant pop content and superb materials and execution.
At Tajan ArtStudio, our selected artists, guest speakers and the public have the opportunity to share special moments and exchange interesting, challenging discussions. It is with great pleasure that we invite you all to come see this exhibition and to follow all our upcoming, exciting events.

Depuis 2004, Tajan présente le programme « L’Artiste et ceux qui le soutiennent ». Celui-ci a pour vocation de créer des évènements uniques, militant pour la défense et la promotion de la création artistique en fédérant artistes, designers, collectionneurs, galeristes et journalistes.
L’évolution et le développement grandissant de cette activité nous a naturellement amené à créer une entité à part entière, sous le nom de Tajan ArtStudio. En proposant plusieurs fois par an des focus sur des talents émergents, dans le cadre d’expositions thématiques, Tajan ArtStudio se positionne comme un véritable prescripteur. Ainsi, lieu d’inspiration et vivier d’artistes, locaux ou internationaux, Tajan ArtStudio vous invite également à (re)découvrir de nouveaux mouvements artistiques, d’autres plus confidentiels ou encore oubliés.
À travers ArtStudio, prescripteur de tendances, nous souhaitons partager avec le plus grand nombre l’art, la culture et notre passion pour la créativité. Poursuivant notre tradition d’associer l’art et le design, nous sommes fiers d’ouvrir le second semestre 2018 avec «Forever Pop» réunissant Evelyne Axell, artiste belge active dans les années 60, et Hubert Le Gall, designer français contemporain.
Durant sa très courte vie, Evelyne Axell, conseillée par un ami de famille, René Magritte, réussit à s’imposer dans la période pop exceptionnelle des années 60. Son travail met en lumière l’émancipation de la sexualité féminine et intègre pleinement dans sa peinture les possibilités offertes alors par les nouveaux matériaux tels que le plastique. Les œuvres d’Evelyne Axell dégagent un fort sentiment de confiance féminine inconnu auparavant et une libération sexuelle nouvelle et hédoniste. Ces œuvres sont tout aussi actuelles et contemporaines qu’au moment de leur création et ont captivé l’intérêt du designer pop français Hubert Le Gall. Elles lui ont inspiré pour cette exposition une sélection de pièces remarquables, générant un dialogue passionnant avec des œuvres créées un demi-siècle plus tôt par une pionnière du Pop. Les œuvres de Le Gall se distinguent dans le design actuel par leur sens de l’humour, leur contenu pop élégant et la qualité de leurs techniques d’exécution.
Les artistes sélectionnés, les acteurs du marché et le public ont la chance de partager dans le cadre de Tajan ArtStudio, un moment privilégié de convivialité, de discussion, de confrontation et d’échanges.
