For the upcomign ADAA Art Show, The Elkon Gallery is pleased to present works by John Wesley, who received inspiration from the female form, eroticism, comic strip characters and dreams. His flat-like imagery draws the viewer into his dream-like world.
Wesley's first solo show was at the Robert Elkon Gallery in 1963. He has exhibited at prominent institutions including the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and MoMA, New York, as well as a 2009 retrospective at the Prada Foundation, Venice organized by Germano Celant. The gallery shared the archives and important works for the exhibition - several of which will be on view.
