Studies for Bird and Lava

68 Park Place East Hampton, NY 11937, USA Saturday, August 1, 2020–Sunday, August 9, 2020

Torkwase Dyson's multidisciplinary approach to artmaking interrogates historical and existing infrastructure and architecture, particularly how Black and brown bodies compose, perceive, and negotiate space.

In this exhibition, Dyson will debut a series of new paintings and drawings made during the period of isolation caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus in New York City, which also coincided with the start of the artist’s year-long artist residency at the Wexner Center for the Arts.
