Collectively, Yin Xiuzhen's sculptures operate as rich repositories of cultural memory, capturing the scale of change that occurred in China in the late 20th century.

Marking the Beijing-based artist’s first solo exhibition at Pace’s New York gallery and her first show in New York in over a decade, Yin Xiuzhen will feature a new large-scale, semi-site specific sculpture as well as a recent body of ceramic work by Yin, who has been a pioneer of Chinese performance and installation art since the early 1990s. Sculptures on view will demonstrate Yin’s masterful exploration of the interplay between globalization and local tradition, as well as the interpenetration of personal history and collective experience, through a number of works reflecting the artist’s deft and well-recognized sculptural integration of disparate everyday items.
