For Art Basel Miami Beach 2022, Tina Kim Gallery is pleased to present new and recent paintings, sculptures, and installations by artists Pacita Abad, Ghada Amer, Davide Balliano, Wook-Kyung Choi, Ha Chong-Hyun, Gimhongsok, Suki Seokyeong Kang, Mire Lee, Minouk Lim, Minoru Niizuma, Tania Pérez Córdova, Park Seo- Bo, Kim Tschang-Yeul, Kim Yong-Ik, and Kwon Young-Woo.

Booth highlights includes a large-scale cardboard drawing by artist Ghada Amer (b. 1963), accompanied by a recent cast bronze sculpture. Both depict imagery of women in states of pleasure; in her practice, Amer appropriates erotic imagery of women, imbuing each image with a tenderness that allows them to become representations of female and feminine agency. Beginning with cardboard boxes—folded, unfolded, and crumpled—Amer paints these depictions of women across the surfaces of these found materials. These drawings are later cast into bronze, transforming the flat perspective of the image into sculptural form. Amer is the subject of a large-scale retrospective taking place across three locations organized by the MUCEM, Marseille, which opens Dec 2, 2022.

Many of the artists exhibited also form the subject of significant solo exhibitions around the world in 2022 and 2023, including transnational painter Pacita Abad’s major retrospective which will be presented at the Walker Art Center, MN; SFMoMA, CA; amongst other venues. In addition, Tania Pérez Córdova is the subject of an ongoing solo exhibition at the Museo Tamayo, Mexico City. The presentation offers a look into each artist’s distinctive practice, highlighting the broad range of conceptual and formal issues that they explore.
