CAZIEL: In Search of a New Reality - Abstract Works 1948 - 1955

6 Duke Street London, SWIY 6BN, United Kingdom Wednesday, May 23, 2012–Friday, June 22, 2012

10 - 6 Monday to Friday

This exhibition brings together canvases and works on paper from this pivotal development in Caziel's career. Throughout his five-year close friendship with Picasso, 1947-1951, Caziel's stylistic preoccupations were divided. Strong lyrical and expressive compositions much indebted to Picasso alternate with works revealing his quest for Abstraction.

Our exhibition focuses on these abstract paintings, showing works of aesthetic and geometric decomposition, as well as paintings with biomorphic shapes. With these works Caziel believed that, as Picasso and Braque did when they invented Cubism, he was reaching for a higher order of reality, a new perspective, which hinted at the spiritual in a search for the fourth dimension. These works exude energy and vitality - the colours dazzle, making the shapes cheerful.

Whitford Fine Art has been handling Caziel's estate since 1994, and has sold Caziel's paintings in London, Paris, New York and Palm Beach. Caziel's work offers our clients the possibility of acquiring an historically important work with a long term investment value, at a reasonable price.
