Biography
Chris Bracey was a British neon artist. Known for the signs he made for sex shops and for films like Blade Runner and Eyes Wide Shut, Bracey stands out from other artists experimenting with neon signage like Tracey Emin and Bruce Nauman in that he both conceptualized and produced his own neon work. Born on December 25, 1954 in Walthamstow, United Kingdom, Bracey worked at his father’s neon sign business from a young age and went on to study art in college. His works have been collected by celebrities like Jay Z and Kate Moss. Bracey, who died on November 1, 2014 in London, United Kingdom, is remembered as the Neon Man.
