Description
Block VIII, Terracotta is a sculpture by French contemporary artist Delphine Brabant from the series « Architecture ».
In this series, the artist designs geometric shapes bringing together different volumes and right angles, alternating between vertical and horizontal shapes, the fullness and the emptiness. The assembly of these elements creates new volumes which sometimes bring to mind modern architecture projects.
Fascinated with the concept of construction, Delphine Brabant composes her abstract sculptures like an architect, assembling and fitting together a multitude of simple forms. Finding inspiration in the verticality, horizontality and the interplay between solid and space, the artist tends to favour clean geometric shapes, developing her art around a notion of balance.
