Dieter Nuhr shows an impressive sense for composition in his photo works. His photographs show fragments or excerpted textures that appear almost painterly. Printed on synthetic fabric, the photographs are stretched on an aluminum frame and look like paintings at first sight. Nuhr, who travels the world with his camera, always chooses his motifs from what he finds. House walls, facades of all kinds that still bear traces of cultural life are in focus of his artistic work. Foreign characters, torn wallpapers or posters, broken glass, as well as relics left behind in abandoned or decaying places testify to cultures mostly outside the home.
