Description
Originally conceived in 1911 in plaster, this is the artist's most important work he created while living in Paris. Its round profile and sinuous curves foreshadow the painted wooden figures Nadelman later made in the United States. In 1966, seven bronze casts (numbered 0 to 6) were made from the original plaster, but in a larger scale measuring 36 inches in height. Two of these casts are held in the collections of the Amon Carter Museum of Fort Worth and the Baltimore Museum of Art. The remainder are in private hands.
