Description
Joana Vasconcelos’ creative process is based on the appropriation and at the same time decontextualisation of pre-existent objects and everyday realities in combination with the materialization of concepts which challenge the pre-arranged routines of the quotidian affinities.
"I like to create a space for discovery, a first moment where you capture what is obvious in the piece, where you can consume it in the first instant. But as you come closer, you discover there’s more to it and you start to deconstruct it."
JOANA VASCONCELOS
Filament I and II, with their sparkling colors and geometric thus unreal shapes, have an hypnotic allure that gently and subtly leads the viewer in an oneiric atmosphere in which he thinks to recognize familiar motifs which, however, cannot be fully comprehended.
