The work was a gift to Robert Malone. He was the editor of the journal Industrial Design. Together with his wife he planned a (unpublished) book about Josef Alber's basic course design in Yale. The present work is a smaller version of" Structural Constellation U-8" (here the "U" stands for Ulm, also created in 1955) and thus a unique piece, which was made at the Ulm College of Design.
