Description
The idea of the glass casting was developed in close collaboration with the artist himself. The process began with a 3D scan of the original and a 1:1 3D print as the basic mold for the plaster mold. The glass was slowly cooled below the critical temperature, which took about five months, to avoid stress and destruction of the result. Demolding the glass sculpture from the plaster mold required special care. The glass sculpture and base were cleaned but not polished to maintain the matte finish. The glass used is a borohybrid glass, a mixture of soda-lime glass and borosilicate glass.
