This painting shows the bay of Douarnenez, among the cliffs of Polhor, in Morgat. A scene Maufra represented several times, as two other paints entitled ‘Cote de Bretagne, Le Calme’ and ‘Les falaises de Polhor, Morgat’ showing the bay and the cliffs from various points.
The purity of forms and the simplicity of the colours reflect his interest in the movement of Synthetism.
