Michèle Assaf Kamel was born in 1948. Before dedicating herself to ceramic arts, she had experienced all kinds of artistic disciplines, attended art history classes and participated in several workshops in Beirut, London and Paris namely Helda Scamanga and Nuha El Radi in Beirut and Annie Fommanoir in Paris.Ms. Kamel's works have been exhibited in famous art galleries such as, Galerie Tanit, the Sursock Museum, the Moawad Museum and Espace SD. They have also been part of a private exhibition at the Lebanese office of tourism in Paris.In her creations, the artist conveys her mixed feelings towards the native land, her relationship with others, her dependence and the use of language. She often reflects on the meaning of words that she uses to defy our modern society shared between denial and sense of belonging.
