Description
Since the dawn of the 20th century, history of art in the West has been defined by the tension between figuration and abstraction. Until relatively recently, these modes of representation alternated, passing in and out of fashion and competing for the favor of the critics and the general public. In this day and age, however, this juxtaposition is no longer as severe as it has been in the past.
Galerie Sept is proud to represent the young Swedish artist, Mikael Takacs, whose work successfully bridges both artistic idioms.
Starting off with just fine lines of the anonymous encounter he will paint, Mikael Takacs works are always balancing on a knife's edge, his technique allows no correction, every movement and action stays in the painting.
Despite his young age, he attracts the attention of great collectors and galleries around the world thanks to his unique technique.
It is said that the marbling originated in Japan in the 12th century under the name of "Suminagashi". Mikael Takacs has been able to reinvent a technique existing for more than hundreds of years like no one has been able to do before, at just 32 years old.
