Wade Hoefer

Biography
Wade Hoefer is a contemporary American painter of Northern Californian landscapes. His simplified and luminous work conveys a sense of tranquility. Born in 1951 in Long Beach, CA, he studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA. “The landscape is what I know, it’s the only thing I’m sure of”, Hoefer has said. “Remove the landscape tradition from painting and you’re left with a sense of loss: it’s innately cherished by people…My work is made by hand, wrought in a soulful way. We’re only human, and we want confirmation of that.” The artist lives and works in Healdsburg, CA.
