Once again highlighting the issues of social justice and economic disparity, this image literally tells its own story. The unfortunate irony that Whitford has captured is almost dizzying, as it’s a reality that countless are facing in large cities today. Gentrification is a one-sided triumph, limiting the impoverished at the expense of making neighborhoods ‘great’. Humanity doesn’t just observe that which makes us human, but also how humans interact with one another. In as much as there are moments of genuine kindness and community, there are also moments where we purposely choose to be divisive.
