Located on Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, 5Art Gallery offers a wide selection of street artworks, most of which come with artists’ signatures and certificates. This exhibition, Art De Rue, presents street arts from a mix of blue-chip and emerging artists.
Starting from the 1970s in New York City, street art has played an important role in contemporary art history. From neo-expressionism to conceptual art, street artists never stop to explore and express themselves through various materials. As renowned street artists, Banksy, Shepard Fairey and Invader’s artworks are shown on the exhibit. From Banksy’s stencil pieces to Invader’s ceramic tile mosaics, each of them represents a revolutionary style in street art history. Through the unique techniques, brilliant insights on various matters and excellent performance in auction houses, their artworks have become high-value art investments. “Love is in the Bin” was sold for more than 25 million dollars in October last year. Needless to say, the art investment in street art has been increasing in the past few years. Having the artworks, which are traditionally seen on public walls and trains, hanging on someone’s wall has become the new fashion of art investing.
Art De Rue includes a group of street artists from all over the world. Born in Uppsala, Sweden, André Saraiva created Street Sign in 2020. Made by enamel paint on metal, the artwork resembles street signs’ shape and colors with a smiley face on top. It immediately stimulates positive emotions to people who walk past this street sign. Instead of seeing rules and law, people see joy from André Street Sign.
5Art Gallery opens to the public from Tue to Sat, 11am to 5pm. No reservation is required.
