Ethereal photographs by Sally Gall are at once ominous and serene, disturbing and reassuring. These extremes are linked by the singularity of Gall's technique. She does not merely capture her subject, she invests it with a mood of its own, and in the process has built an impressive portfolio of unique and uniquely affective images. Her superb compositions capture and enhance the ever-changing play of light, water and land. Gall travels to places far from human habitation to create timeless photographs that conjure up mystery, longing and trepidation in her viewers.
Gall is the recipient of several major awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist's Fellowship. Her work is exhibited in galleries and museums around the country and is included in collections such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
Currently resides in New York, NY
