The gallery is happy to announce the opening of the 2022 special exhibition season with a show of work by John Waters. We have shown John’s work for over 25 years, and this exhibition will include pieces that span that period and more, from A Cold Wind (1992) to the most recent, and the title piece, Probe. This is the 6th one-person show of John’s that we have shown in addition to two exhibitions that he curated. Originating as still photos that John took from videos from his TV screen in search of imagery, these “little movies” as he has called them have expanded into sculpture and performance and installations all the while maintaining their subversive and humorous observations of human nature and contemporary life.

One of the more prominent images is Self Portrait #5 - Dog Catcher, which was created here in Provincetown, and is particularly timely with the recent release of his novel Liarmouth.

Of A Cold Wind, John remarks: “Drink. Have fun. Die. The End. “High Concept” goes arty.”
