We are very happy to present this group of new work by Stephen Bron. The special online exhibition features a show of new Wave paintings, as well as a selection of intimate recent work. These lyrical Wave paintings abound with an energy and vibrancy that belies their scale. That Bron is able to fully convey through gesture and mark such feeling and power in paintings of this size is testimony to his ability as an accomplished artist. His handling of paint, which has always been remarkable, stands out in this group. The Wave is certainly a perfect way to bring in the summer of 2023. Along with these paintings are intimate still-life images: the quotidian made universal: spoons and orange slices, some tulips, a bunch of carrots and a dazzling moth, all treated with the brilliance of technique under the loving gaze of the artist’s attention.
Stephen Bron [b. 1993] is a painter living and working in Brooklyn. He received his BFA in painting at The Cooper Union in 2015, and received his MFA in Painting at NYU in 2017, and attended the Yale Norfolk Summer School in 2014.
