We would like to welcome the new year with a very special exhibition. Markus Lüpertz is showing his new works on paper.
A series of very unique figures is presented in monochrome, based on the old, rare and elaborate carborundum technique. The works are strong in expression but calm in effect and limited to just five copies each.
In contrast, a new series in XXL format with crow motifs, which were worked out as woodcuts, is limited to five copies each and designed in color.
The crow has played a major role in Markus Lüpertz's work since his early days. The mythological significance is broad. Gods and kings often made use of its wisdom and power of orientation. Only later was misfortune attached to its feathers. The crow is simply a wanderer between the worlds.
