Borghi Fine Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of:
Street Art
Featuring artist: Bansky, Mr. Brainwash, Giorgio Casu and Michele Palazzo, Sheppard Fairey, Justin Fontaine Maury, John Stango, Swoon, and Andy Warhol
Banksy is the pseudonym of a "guerrilla" street artist known for his controversial, and often politically themed, stenciled pieces.
Mr. Brainwash is the moniker of Los Angeles-based filmmaker and Pop artist Thierry Guetta. He has spent the better part of the last decade attempting to make the ultimate street art documentary. Meanwhile, inspired by his subjects, he started hitting the streets, from Los Angeles to Paris, with spray painted stencils and posters of his pop art inspired images.
Giorgio Casu and Michele Palazzo collaborated together to create a unique form of art and photographer. Born out of a conversation on the intersections and possibilities that a combination of photography and painting can uncover, the two artists have produced 33 artwork pieces that are novel extensions of both mediums, revealing very intimate interpretations of New York daily life.
Shepard Fairey is one of the most influential street artists of our time. Shepard Fairey’s work has been used in screen-prints, stencils, stickers, masking film illustrations, wheat paste, collages, sculptures, posters, paintings, and murals. Shepard Fairey enjoys working with the colors black, white, and red. Fairey has constantly shifted between the realms of fine art, commercial art, street art, and even political art. His most famous art includes images of Andre the Giant, and the Obey trademark.
Justin Fontaine Maury enlarges photographs inspired by vintage adult film posters and classified ads, which were overlooked by pop culture due to their taboo nature. Maury plays with language and image; he explores the viewers' constant battle to define the figure from the word, raising interesting questions about the nature of American popular ad culture and the inherent human desire to link image and language.
John Stango’s paintings were initially featured as backdrops for window displays at several Philadelphia department stores. Eventually, Stango began showing in area galleries as his technique became refined with his use of popular images epitomizing glamour and twisted Pop icons.
Swoon from New York City who specializes in life-size wheatpaste prints and paper cutouts of figures. Swoon, real name Caledonia Callie Curry, studied painting at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and started doing street art around 1999.
Warhol really needs no introduction.
