Die Buchmann Galerie freut sich, eine Ausstellung mit einer neuen Großfotoserie von Anna & Bernhard Blume anzukündigen. Bazon Brock wird eine Ansprache über ihr Oeuvre während der Eröffnung um 20 Uhr halten.

TRANS-SKULPTUR ist die neueste, aber leider auch die letzte Werkgruppe, die das Künstlerpaar gemeinsam realisiert hat, nachdem Bernhard Blume vor einigen Wochen überraschend verstorben ist.

In TRANS-SKULPTUR werden, wie der Titel andeutet, Begriffe von Raum, Skulptur und Transzendenz verhandelt, und zwar auf die für die beiden Künstler so typisch humorvolle, ironische und intellektuelle Weise.

TRANS-SKULPTUR entstand im Rahmen einer inszenierten Performance von Anna & Bernhard Blume. Sie verfassten zu TRANS-SKULPTUR folgendes künstlerisches Statement:

TRANS-SKULPTUR

Transzendenz, wie artikuliert sich das heute, am 'Ende der großen Erzählungen' nach dem Ende der Metaphysik? Gibt es womöglich auch heute noch Bedarf für sentimentale Hinweise auf ein irgendwie ganz Anderes und Jenseitiges?
In unserer Zeit ist Transzendenz im Wesentlichen eine Privatsache… und sie führt uns vielleicht eher in eine Galerie oder Museum als in ein Gotteshaus.
Wie kann man unseren Hang zur Transzendenz dann heute noch beschwichtigen?
Wenn also nicht durch Religion und Philosophie - dann also vielleicht durch die Kunst?
Die frühe Herstellung transzendental orientierter Bilder, z.B. von Ikonen, war noch ans Gebet gekoppelt.
Welche Regeln, Gebote oder Gebete leiten in Zeiten ästhetischer Desorientierung und Überproduktion nun also uns, die sogenannten Fotokünstler Anna & Bernhard Blume?
Woran sich Kunst im Allgemeinen und bei uns im Besonderen zu halten hätte, das kann zwar leicht gesagt sein, ist aber weniger leicht getan.
Sie— die Kunst— sollte nämlich in einer Weise sein, die einerseits metaphysische und ideologische Illusionen unterläuft, aber dabei die Bearbeitung von Transzendenz nicht vergisst oder verrät.
Die Antwort auf alles andere und Spezielle, etwa die nach Medium, Methode, Material, nach Körper und Skulptur, nach Form und Inhalt, Sinn, Bedeutung … kurz: Nach Transzendenz und ihre möglichen Spuren… Diese Antwort bleibt letztlich Ihnen— als Betrachter, sinnlich-erfahrbar ganz allein überlassen. Urteilen oder lachen Sie also selbst.

The Buchmann Galerie is pleased to announce an exhibition with a new series of large-scale photographs by Anna & Bernhard Blume. Bazon Brock will hold a speech about their oeuvre during the opening at 8 pm.

TRANS-SKULPTUR is the latest group of works realized together by the husband-and-wife artists; sadly, it will also be the last one, since Bernhard Blume died unexpectedly several weeks ago.

As its title suggests, TRANS-SKULPTUR treats concepts of space, sculpture, and transcendence, in the humorous, ironic, and intellectual way so typical of the two artists.

TRANS-SKULPTUR was created as part of a staged performance by Anna & Bernhard Blume. They wrote the following statement about TRANS-SKULPTUR:

TRANS-SKULPTUR

Transcendence—how is it articulated today, at the “end of the grand narratives,” after the end of metaphysics? Is there perhaps still today for sentimental references to something somehow completely different and beyond?
In our time, transcendence is essentially a private matter … and perhaps it is more likely to take us to a gallery or museum than to a house of God.
How can we appease our inclination to transcendence today? If not through religion and philosophy, then perhaps through art? The early production of transcendentally inclined images—icons, for example—was still linked to prayer.
What rules, commandments, or prayers guide us, the so-called art photographers Anna & Bernhard Blume, in times of aesthetic disorientation and overproduction?
What art in general and for us in particular has to hold on to can be easily specified, but it is less easily done.
It—art—should be of a nature that, on the one hand, evades metaphysical and ideological illusions but, on the other hand, does not forget or betray work on transcendence.
The answer to everything different and specific, for example, to medium, method, material, body and sculpture, to form and content, to meaning, significance … in short, to transcendence and its possible traces …
That answer is ultimately left to you—as the viewer—and only you can be experience it through the senses. So judge or laugh as you wish.
