Die Buchmann Galerie freut sich die Gruppenausstellung Palm Paintings anzukündigen.
Ausgehend von der Faszination für indische Miniaturen der Mogul Zeit des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts entstand die Idee zu dieser Ausstellung. Der Begriff Palm Paintings beschreibt Formate von der Größe einer Handfläche. Die Begrenzung der Bildfläche fordert vom Künstler sowie vom Betrachter andere Parameter der Herangehensweise im Vergleich zu gewöhnlichen Formaten.
Gezeigt werden Künstler der Galerie und weitere eingeladene Künstler, die sich auf ihre eigene Weise diesen Anforderungen stellen. So wird bei einigen die begrenzte Bildfläche als Ausschnitt eines größeren Ganzen gesehen, andere passen die Motivwahl dem kleinen Format an.

The Buchmann Galerie is pleased to announce the group exhibition Palm Paintings.
The idea for this exhibition derived from a fascination for Indian miniatures of the Mogul period of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The concept for Palm Paintings is based on formats the size of the palm of one's hand. The limitation of the surface demands that both the artist and the viewer approach it using parameters that differ from those for more usual formats.
The works shown are by artists from the gallery as well as other invited artists, and each has met these challenges in his or her own way. In several cases the limited surface is seen as a detail from a larger whole, while others have adapted the choice of motif to the small format.
