ROCK PAPER SCISSORS ist ein Glücks- und Geschicklichkeitsspiel, das neben
geistigem Kombinationsvermögen auch handwerkliche Fertigkeiten erfordert
und bei dem die Hand als Agent, Instrument und Material des strategischen
und kompetitiven imaginativen Bestrebens fungiert.
ROCK PAPER SCISSORS, überführt, in der Regie des Gastkurators Jon Wood,
das physische und konzeptuelle Spiel in das Feld der zeitgenössischen
Skulptur und zeigt, dass künstlerische Erkundungen des Skulpturale häufig
durch die Hand durch‚ ‚manuelles Denken' und andere‚ konzeptuelle
Manipulationen - besonders markant in Erscheinung treten, nicht nur in einer
Vielzahl heutiger künstlerischer Praktiken, sondern auch zwischen ihnen.
Physische und geistige Fertigkeiten, das zeigt diese Ausstellung, sind in diesen
intermedialen Rivalitäten, materiellen Wettbewerben und antizipatorischen
Spielen und Glücksspielen erforderlich, bei denen die eine Hand die andere
herausfordert und austrickst.
Die Ausstellung wird mit einer Party beginnen und ein ‚Rock Paper Scissors' -
Spiel umfassen.
Chris Barr, behandelt die Wände, Shannon Bool, legt die Skulptur auf die Seite,
Matt Calderwood, lässt sechs der Besten laufen (wobei der Film läuft), Tony
Cragg, schlägt sich auf die Seite der Würfel, Matthew Crawley, bittet um Hilfe,
Krysten Cunningham, zieht eine Skulptur auf, Chris Evans, ruft die Bullen,
Asta Gröting, schält eine Kartoffel und zeigt ihre Hand, Harry Meadley, macht
einen Totenschädel aus Kristall, Jonathan Monk, spielt seine Hand mit einem
Steinhaufen aus, Wilhelm Mundt, glättet die Dinge und Bettina Pousstchi,
händigt den Poller aus.
André Buchmann und Jon Wood schicken sich gegenseitig Postkarten.
Graham Walker steht für Informationen zu dem RPS-Spiel zur Verfügung;
während des Spiels, das im Rahmen der Eröffnung stattfindet, wird er als
Vorsitzender der RPS-Gesellschaft als Schiedsrichter fungieren.

ENGLISH VERSION
ROCK PAPER SCISSORS is a playground game of chance and skill - of mental
as well as manual dexterity, in which the hand serves as the agent, instrument
and material of strategic and competitive imaginative endeavour.
ROCK PAPER SCISSORS, guest-curated by Jon Wood, carries the physical and
conceptual play of this game into the field of contemporary sculpture, showing
that it is often through the hand - through 'manual thinking' and other
'conceptual manipulations' - that artists' explorations into the sculptural
emerge most vividly not only across a variety of artistic practices today,
but also between them.
Physical and mental skill, as this exhibition shows, is needed in these
intermedial rivalries, material contests and anticipatory games and gambles,
in which one hand challenges and outwits the other.
The exhibition will begin with a party and include a game of 'Rock Paper Scissors'
to which all are invited.

Matt Calderwood, rolls six of the best (with the film rolling), Tony Cragg, takes
sides with dice, Matthew Crawley, asks for help, Krysten Cunningham, winds up
a sculpture, Chris Evans, calls in the cops, Asta Gröting, peels a potato and
shows her hand, Harry Meadley, makes a crystal skull, Jonathan Monk, plays
his hand with pile of rocks, Wilhelm Mundt, smoothes things down and
Bettina Pousstchi, hands over the bollard.

Graham Walker will be able to provide the info on the RPS game basically
we will have a game during the opening, adjudicaited by him as chairman
of the RPS Society.
