Named as a cultural attaché of the Chilean Embassy in the United States, where he reencounter the hectic cultural world of New York. While he was a cultural attaché in the U.S., he painted the MURAL for the UN Hearts of Los Andes.

The Casa de la Moneda de Chile issued a stamp in Homage to Antúnez with the reproduction of the work "Tanguería of Valparaíso" (the lithograph presented in the front pay of this gallery site.)

Conferred with The Order to the Merit in Docent and Culture Gabriela Mistral by the President of Chile. He died shortly at the age of 75.

Received a special homage during the International Festival of Biarritz, France.

1994

In homage to its memory, the State of Chile constituted the Commission Nemesio Antúnez, responsible for monitoring the compliance of the laws on works of art.
