Douglas Drake has been an art collector since 1968, and a dealer, curator, arts administrator, and appraiser since 1974. He owned and operated the Douglas Drake Gallery in Kansas City from 1974 until 1985, then the Douglas Drake Gallery in New York City until 1995. He is a full-time private dealer, consultant and appraiser from his Kansas City home.
His art business has focused on 20th-century and Post-War American Art, Contemporary Art, and photography, as well as 19th-century American painting and the arts of Africa, Southeast Asia, and Native America.
