The artist Donald Sultan, born in 1951 in Asheville, North Carolina, has gained international recognition for his unique language of materials and forms. His artistic breakthrough began in the 1970s, and since then, he has created an influential body of work that transcends and expands the boundaries of traditional art. Sultan's works are characterized by a combination of abstracted, minimalist forms and precise lines, creating a harmonious balance between figuration and abstraction. Vibrant colors are as much a part of his artistic signature as the use of industrial materials such as tar, plaster, wooden floorboards, linoleum, or charcoal. Sultan employs these materials to generate visual tension in his organic subjects.

The new exhibition, titled "Recent Work - Mimosas", is a retrospective that honors his previous achievements. It showcases works from 1996 to his current pieces in 2023, offering you the opportunity to marvel at the development of Sultan's visual language and artistic forms.

Donald Sultan's works can be found in the collections of the world's most prestigious museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. His artworks are also held in many private collections, including those of Oprah Winfrey, Elton John, and Giorgio Armani. To this day, Donald Sultan remains the youngest artist, at just 37 years old, to be honored with a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The gallery Andres Thalmann is delighted to announce the exhibition "Recent Work - Mimosas" featuring Donald Sultan in Paris, an artist who has a deep affection for the French capital and frequently spends a significant amount of time there.
