We are delighted to announce the opening of our new venue at Rämistrasse 35, right next to Kunsthaus Zürich, with an exhibition of the Polish-born artist Maryan, featuring artworks from the 50s to the 70s.

The show will be accompanied by a fully illustrated exhibition catalogue with an essay by the curator and writer Adam Szymczyk titled «No Reconciliation: on the work of Maryan S. Maryan».

Pinchas Burstein, a.k.a. “MARYAN”, was an artist who was born in Polonia in 1927 and died in the USA in 1977.The irony in Maryan’s paintings coexists with the depth of his biographical character, which defined his entire career. Born in Poland in the years before World War II, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp at the age of 12, where he lost a leg and became an orphan. This experience, as well as the new works of Dubuffet, Picasso, Karel Appel and others, inspired him to develop a very personal work of art in parallel with the artistic movements of the postwar period.
