Galerie Thomas Schulte is delighted to be participating in Art Basel for the 33rd consecutive time. For our participation in 2023, we have put together a selection of our core program artists, including recent as well as historically important works by positions that have defined our program for the past three decades. At the center of our presentation, we are displaying new metal works from our sculptural artists Richard Deacon and Alice Aycock. Furthermore, the artists Jonathan Lasker, Juan Uslé, Albrecht Schnider, and Marina Adams will contribute painterly positions to the presentation, demonstrating varied perspectives on the medium from different generations and backgrounds. Besides these more classically conceptual approaches to painting, the bodies of work by Michael Müller, Jonas Weichsel, and Angela de la Cruz toe the line between sculpture and painting, analog and digital, and immateriality and a tangible material presence, exploring a newer, less straight-forward take on wall-based painterly works. Accompanying these recent works, we also present key historic positions–a large diptych from Katharina Sieverding’s iconic Solarisation series and drawings by Fred Sandback, who is currently celebrated with a comprehensive solo exhibition at the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart in Berlin. Finally, works by two artists complete the presentation, who have been at the core of Galerie Thomas Schulte’s program since its beginnings in the 1990s: Rebecca Horn and Allan McCollum. On display will be a collection of Allan McCollum's Plaster Surrogates and a kinetic sculpture by Rebecca Horn, an autonomous position beyond all conceptual, minimalist trends.

Accompanying our presentation in CO6, the booth on the ground floor we have occupied for the last two years, Galerie Thomas Schulte will also show installations by Juan Uslé at Unlimited and by Julian Irlinger at Parcours.
