Galleri K was established by Kristin and Ben Frija in 1977 and has since then been located in Bjørn Farmanns gate 2. The first artists they started working with were Svein Bolling, John David Nielsen, Svein Strand, Johannes Vinjum and Frans Widerberg. In the early 90´s Galleri K began to show younger artists such as Kjell Bjørgeengen, Kristian Blystad and Kjell Torriset. At the same time the gallery had historical shows with Frederik Collett, Frida Hansen, Ludvig Karsten and Harald Sohlberg among others. In 1994 Galleri K started showing international artists on a regular basis, and through the years the gallery has exhibited David Claerbout, Thomas Demand, Günther Förg, Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Florian Maier-Aichen, Albert Oehlen, Thaddeus Strode, Thomas Struth, Franz West and Christopher Wool, among others. The latest shows with international artists include separate exhibitions with Nan Goldin, Candida Höfer and Francesca Woodman.
The gallery represents Darren Almond, Eilif Amundsen, Kjell Bjørgeengen, Kristian Blystad, Are Blytt, Svein Bolling, Sara Korshøj Christensen, Anne-Karin Furunes, Till Gerhard, Franz Gertsch, Else Marie Hagen, Thore Heramb, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Silje Linge Haaland, Steinar Jakobsen, Mikkel McAlinden, Christian Messel, John David Nielsen, Christian Tony Norum, Nina Roos, Michael Sailstorfer, Eirik Senje, Svein Strand, Thomas Struth, Johannes Vinjum, Kira Wager, Johannes Wohnseifer and Stian Ådlandsvik. Lately Galleri K has started to represent Anna Sofie Mathiasen and Laura-Ann Morrison.
