Jack Rutberg Fine Arts in Los Angeles is currently featuring an expansive exhibition, “Modern & Contemporary Works: A Revolving Exhibition” which includes paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture spanning nearly 100 years. More than seventy works of intimate and monumental scale, featuring an impressive range of international artists, makes this ambitious group show a rare and engaging exhibition.
Highlights of Works on View:
· Spanish Contemporary artist Jordi Alcaraz, an emerging force, following his recent museum exhibition in Barcelona and celebrated exhibitions in Madrid, Cologne and Berlin, is shown with several of his poetic constructions.
• Hans Burkhardt, increasingly celebrated as one of America’s most extraordinary 20th century painters, whose career spanned his early associations with Arshile Gorky in the 1920s and 30s, through a remarkable body of work created after his move to L.A. where he broke aesthetic barriers unprecedented by his counterparts in the east coast and Europe.
· Patrick Graham, Ireland’s leading contemporary painter, currently featured in the major museum exhibition, “The Quick and the Dead,” at the Hugh Lane in Dublin, Ireland through September, 27, 2009 is represented here with several works including a monumental painting. Also included in our exhibition are drawings by Timothy Hawkesworth - one of the four artists featured “The Quick and the Dead.”
· Llyn Foulkes is represented through a uniquely surreal painting and assemblage. Foulkes was recently featured in a memorable installation of his works at the Hammer Museum’s exhibition, “Nine Lives: Visionary Artists from L.A.”
· Ruth Weisberg’s formidable painting, “The Blessing,” is shown following its inclusion as the seminal work of her recent solo exhibition, “Ruth Weisberg: Guido Cagnacci and The Resonant Image” at the Norton Simon Museum.
· Jerome Witkin, who continues to elicit wide recognition as one of the most extraordinary contemporary narrative painters, is included with his trademarked psychologically charged works.
· Francisco Zuniga, Mexico’s most important 20th century sculptor, is represented by drawings and works in bronze. We take this opportunity to invite institutions, collectors, and dealers to submit works for the forthcoming publication of Volume V of the ZúZiga Catalogue Raisonné.
· Sam Francis is represented by a large-scale painting as well as an exceedingly rare early gouache of the 1950s and other unique works on paper.

Founded in 1979, Jack Rutberg Fine Arts has presented major exhibitions of important Modern and Contemporary European, American and Latin American artists. Since its inaugural exhibition featuring the works of Arshile Gorky and Hans Burkhardt, the gallery has continued to present museum-quality exhibitions placing contemporary paintings, sculpture, prints and drawings in historical context.
