A greedy banker's relationship with money is violent. You will repeatedly encounter a darkness which only the gifted few can digest. This world unfurls as it will, regardless of the longings of its inhabitants. Desires manifest and extreme greed strengthens resolve and drives the devil.

We the bankers are not surprised by calamities or defeats, we embrace disasters, welcome them in fact. The chemical release in our brains outweighs caution. Our lives are lived with eyes wide open to the world of consumption and our deep ocean of ego encourages us to swim like sharks hungry for blood. The horror just beneath the ordinary surface of things, the freak show in the nightclub, the seductive energy of the strippers. Give me more than I can cope with.

Wild pain and decay ooze from the canvas, Townley is interested in what lurks beneath the surface of things. Mutilated and incomplete, how wonderful greed can be.

Many people have trouble with the dark side of the psyche. Townley’s work embraces, even celebrates this deep chaos. Why can’t we be free to enter different dimensions of existence? There is always something more going on, dig your nails in and feel it, so if you push out and turn your back on the cautious you will experience greed and it’s delicious flavours.
