Christopher Le Brun returns to China with a new series of paintings, following previous exhibitions at Lisson Shanghai in 2019, a solo exhibition at The Red Brick Art Museum, and a dual presentation with Su Xinping at MoCAUP, both in 2021. The highlights of the presentation include Phases of the Moon, a multipanel painting revealing the cyclical nature of Le Brun's practice with a lunar motif that traces back to one of his earliest oil paintings; and Lontano, a triptych which shares its title with a piece by the composer Gyorgy Ligeti written in 1967, epitomising Le Brun’s belief that painting should primarily have a sensual and emotional appeal.
